Isuwa Khola Hydropower Project is a Peaking run-off-the-river type scheme located at Makalu VDC of Sankhawasubha district of Koshi zone of Eastern Region of Nepal. Isuwa Khola is tributary of Arun River. The headwork site is located about 8 km upstream of the confluence of Isuwa Khola and Arun River. All the project components are located at the right bank. Geographically, project is located at 27°37’00”N to 27°34’03”Nand87°11’23”E to 87°14’30”E with added co-ordinate 27°34’03”N to 27°32’56”N and 87°14’00”E to 87°14’30”E. Geographically, the project area lies in the Higher Himalayas in Eastern development region of Nepal. The land surface is somewhat rugged and rejuvenation of the river system, in the project area. Isuwa Khola flows towards south-west direction. The project is a “Peaking run-off-the-river” type hydropower project, with the provision of storage for 6-hour peak power generation. The project is designed by considering Isuwa Khola flow at an elevation of about 2005 masl. The intake of the project is planned to construct upstream of Narbuchaur village at the right bank of Isuwa Khola at an elevation of 2005 masl. Total catchment area of the project including Isuwa Khola is about 152.00 km2. The head available is 922 m.
